Grasslands to Forest.....

So Ive been avoiding posting like the plague, which is funny bc bubonic plague is prevalent here in Eldo.

Construction is tight, wired, piped, insulated, and Kevin and Joe just came and left. The Lineup:

The Bro

The Joe

The Ho (unhappy about surprise photos)

The Schmoe

Lots of gun shooting and tree transplanting and Guinness. Just to let you know, my idea of home decor is way different than most, so I get shut down pretty quick. If things were up to me Id live in a giant garage.

So to give the weekend a little kick we gathered the firearms and headed to the hills. In stock we had:
- .45 acp (new)
- .40 acp
- 30-30 lever action
- 10-22 semi-auto
- .22 bolt action
- 12 ga modified
- 12 ga full
- a pile of ammo and clays for nonstop 3 day fun times and great oldies. This is my kind of weekend!!

The only thing missing was a major accidental fire or a vehicular rollover. Although, they were not missed.

Kona on the other hand has a bit of a girlie problem (for the first and last time). So now shes sporting these boys briefs and pad. Though I think it looks hilarious (she doesnt), bc its almost sagging nagster style...lmao

Laughing in the Car....

Randomly this song came on the radio as we haggardly drifted back to the SW. The mental images were hilarious so I have to share.

Travels of a String wad....

First the string must be eaten. Sometime later it will irritate the digestive system, causing loss of sleep, eventually leading to puking said wad of string onto floor for reexamination and possible reconsumption. Kona ate her blanket.

Meanwhile were back at it in NM where the addition is coming along quite nicely and the wind is insane, not to mention cold and very unlike the low humid warmth that was present in Egypt.

Fish Garden view from the new flat

A lot of things happened. Most super fun. Lots of shisha, sakkara, smog, sunburn, dehydration, french fries, and haggling. With all the travels and my first experience of EXTREME jet lag, I have to move in reverse chronological order in keep things semi-non-awkward. Btw, the trip revived the awkward turtle from its comfort and slumber, only to get pwned, as you may have heard already from the memoirs.

This is the first time I have ever had issues sleeping on a plane. It could have been the less than optimal beer availability, the lack of comfortably attractive flight attendants (who hires bitter grandmas, I mean really?) or the family with 4 four little boys that had eaten the chocolate coated suger bombs for breakfast before kicking the stuffing out of the back of seat, grabbing my hair and poking my feet. Did I mention screaming, I think there was some of that too. Kids have been mandatorally removed from any near future plans as a result. I also gave manders the good business class seats on a couple flights. Trust me, that will never happen again.

Must clean, organize, plan, sleep....

Egypto....

Made it. have come to find out theres no card reader in any of the computers at my availablity. Fine. No pictures. Its nice and kinda weird to be back here, almost 2 years later. Boy the flies have time. Stella and Sakkara still only get you to a certain point before total internal dehydration occurs. The pyramids havent moved, so thats nice. Everybody appologizes for the weather as yesterday in rained hard for 5 hours. Weird indeed. Leaving behind its legacy of nast-e-nast. The funk of wet in a shin deep concotion of foul. This is why everybody should throw their trash in the river, because it helps.

Time for sheesha, ciao

No Desire....

....to get a job after hooking this up. And remember folks, bailing wire is high tech and fashionably la mode right now. PS3 is obviously the way to go for HD, I now see the light, in 1080p.

With the construction moving along(the first set of windows is going in today), weve found the nests of the inhabitants previous the genocide. Turns out the whole garage was kinda infested, which makes me not feel so dumb about thinking I was hearing em run around, though I havent heard that noise in a while, tgif!

Related and weird, Amanda was doing some CDC research and found out that The Plague, is still around and is most prevelant in, you guessed it, my neighborhood! 2 points! Interesting?

Big Enough fer Now....

So in the process of building a sweet home theater, one must choose a TV. We chose a projector so our screen size was virtually unlimited. I figured a 92 incher would suffice, but then I had no idea it would actually be THAT big untill I put it together and compared with the old big screen:

Were temporarily setting everything up for enjoyment on Fri and then vamoosing to Egypt on Sun, via Denver. Everyone is welcome for a movie on Fri/Sat nights!!

The Goods are Here....

....and WOW!!

Bozeman Police Reports....

"A sick looking gopher was reported on West Main Street. The caller was concerned the animal might "jump out and eat someone." Police could not find the sick animal."

"Two drunken men misplaced their vehicle on East Tamarack Street Sunday. While they were looking for it, two 12-year-olds chased them up the street. The juveniles were warned by police, and the vehicle was located."

"A door was damaged on a Reese Creek Road home and a caller said a gopher definitely didn't do it."

I found the motherlode... randomly it seems. At the same time I also found the best collection of fundamentalist quotes EVAR!!! Be aware it may load slow or not at all due to its popularity

"
Everyone knows scientists insist on using complex terminology to make it harder for True Christians to refute their claims.

Deoxyribonucleic Acid, for example... sounds impressive, right? But have you ever seen what happens if you put something in acid? It dissolves! If we had all this acid in our cells, we'd all dissolve! So much for the Theory of Evolution, Check MATE!"

Carnage to the Umpth Degree....

I was wasting time goofing off like normal when the evidence presented itself. I was shocked. Horror. Screams of murder. I had to take a nap.

Allow me to present the facts against tying bikes to trailers....

It is TRUE that these DO look more like DEEP gouges than mere scratches. Its bc they ARE DEEP and painfull. The caliper, crank and fork stantion are the WORST. I need another nap.

Table Tennis Tuesdays....

Amid the blowing wind there has to be a place. A place of refuge. A place where all of my toys can call home. This place just received the benefit of new roof. And btw, all the motorcycles run, theyre itching for a breeze!

So with more packing there has to be a time deemed by the almighty for riding and sunshine with a little warmth attached. That would be nice bc Im fiending for a rooster tail!

Notice the skylight. As well the glass cubes in the one wall are getting relocated to the large wall opposite at top going all the way across. I thought of that. Im awesome. The stove pipe support box is hidden for now but everything is built in. And I swear that wicker furniture need to be disposed of....

Next Stop Egypt!!!!!

On Any Sunday....

So we were at the video store looking for some sweet vids to add to the collection, when I saw it. I had heard of it before, from dirt bike magazines and such but never really took much to it. I had to try it out.

Let me tell you the first one is absolutely awesome. Released in 1971, I have to say Im completely impressed with the style and quality of this production. II is gonna happen tonite!! Did I mention Hilarious? I should, bc it really is. They name styles of dismounts... if that isnt worth your time I dont know what is....?

NOTE: Were renaming Kona to 'The Whore' for obvious reasons....

Out with the Old and In with the New....

There I was JRA (ask Garrett) when it happened. Annually this happens. Im usually prepared for it, but this time I was not. Unhappy with things(job), I decided to make a change to accelerate my recovery.

Meet Officer Michaels:

It was time to shave the crooked beard and start on something else. Amanda cant stop laughing. I think Im gonna have to start wearing my piece around.

The annual breakdown starts with a typical large beard and a shaved head to the skin. Next is the giant goatee and then a lingering handlebar mustache. I just skipped the shit this year and went straight for the mustache and am currently trying to see how long I can keep before just completely losing my shit.

ASSHAT....

This is my new years vocabulary update along with many other things. Cold temps, frozen beards and frozen paws. The ditch contained Cadillacs and Expeditions strewn about the black ice. Framed garages and burning hot hearths. Liquid smoke and cold beverages of the tasty sort. The holidays have come and they've gone, like half of my firewood with some mystery asshat into the dawn. Too bad the lights were wired way too late.

And to finish off the photo dump, Kona is just not that smart all of the time....

Guitar Hero Surprise....

Last night Pam the birthday girl, Dan, Christina and I beat GH3. But along the way the Knights of Cydonia song was on there, a hidden jewel, and was also Dans video of the year for 06. Well maybe a little bold, a little tangy, I have chosen Knights of Cydonia as my pick for 07!

Enjoy many times over!!

Daft Dancing....

So theres a couple cool things I saw on this holiday vacation.... Daft Bodies (seen below) and Lauren dancing to the Ok Go song....the sweetest....you have to go there and watch it fo real yo!!

The holidays, being always interesting, were just that: interesting. Luckily I got my prescription and Kona the destroyer is holding up to name if not exceeding it. She was in Ned for 15 minutes before peeing twice and pooping once in the cabin. Shes fired.

Saw Aliens vs Predator last night and... all I can say is beware a frightfully bad movie. So bad I laughed through most of it. It came right out of the 80's I swear. Just remember the line: "people are dying, we need guns"

Other than that, I guess well see how much wood has been stolen when I get back.

Rubbin On and On....

Finally got that damn tire on. Dont try even if its a little cold. Must be warm. Will not flex. And getting the rim lock in place is a total bitch. In fact the whole thing was a pain in my ass. Nevertheless it DOES make a mean rooster tail now!!

A dirty greasy disc also helps the onlookers know youre coming with the screams of fear combined with a total inability to stop, ie. lots o fun!!!

Ski Porn....

Winter has truly come and it time to get ready.... ie, SKI PORN!!!

Note: Taos is now open to Snowboarders...as of March 2008!!!

The View....

Yesterday the new windows arrived and boy are they sweet:

Then after filing down huge heel callous and lightening pain from ginormous crack in said heel I ran across this 4 minute history of Saudi Arabia form the intro to the movie The Kingdom. You cant put a whole lotta detail in 4 minutes, but the destricption is a nice informational watch:

And then the guy who delivered the windows was wearing this shirt from HERE:

Note: Im also looking for an old and small wood burning stove. Cheap or free. Keep your eyes peeled. Whatever that really means?

Tricks for Treats....

So we had a good night of cooking and eating. I made the Green Chile Chicken Casserole, A made the candycane cookies, and Kona made the tricks.

Then like always, excellent dinners and Sonic the Hedgehog sessions require premature napping when no one is looking.

EDIT: I forgot the construction update....

Read this and be amazed. Right to Left. Amazed.

Boating....

So when the weather is foul and dirtbiking is not the wisest option, and skiing would suck, I dream of boating....sloppy wet and wild boating....just the way your mother likes it Trebek!!

So It Turns Out That...

.... changing motorcycle tires is incredibly harder than mountain bike tires. In not sure why they even have tubes as they dont even bend or flex especially when its cold out. Solid. Ridiculous.

I got the old one off and compared tread. It looks like it has the knobby bits still but if the weather is foul and terrain is saucy, youre screwed. I might even try and flip the tire and try the other side for a day. Im sure Ill be disappointed. We shall see the light later. Right now Im trying to make the tire more flexible, so its inside by the dryer warming up. I try.

And we gots more wood. Note: this post begins with Saturdays awesome sunrise/storm!

Updatapotomous....

A couple changes to the gig:

Added Garretts blog
Removed Brendens vacant blog

Internet is fixed for real, I mean the dudes were here for at least 3+ hours. Working from home actually proves way more productive and efficient. Who woulda known. And my dirtbike stuff came, so from now on I dont have to listen to Garrett and Brian telling me I should get a chest protector anymore. And thanks G, yours saved my life on the DH race.....stoopid little root.

Pictures later...maybe

More Precip....

So holy cow, were gettin more and more rain. Exponentially increasing the average from the last couple a years. I have about 10 cords up in the sticks to be hauled and the mud is hindering that process. And that right there is sad. I bet my crappy trailer is singing in the rain....

Updates:
The garage slab is getting poured on Fri.
The Kawasaki Frightster (Deerhunter) is hard to ride with low tires.
Riding bikes is fun when Im supposed to be working.
Ordering toys for myself right before christmas is exciting (SUPER)
CAD seems like the biggest waste of time that I can think of.
Making maps is quite fun on the otherhand.
Schmegma!

I Found it First.....

This is an item that would normally go on Dans site, but I found it first:

Mud, Blood, Sweat and Tears....

It started in the late afternoon, tons of it. It never stopped. It partially destroyed the lattice on the back porch. It brought its buddy, wind. IT was RAIN.

Precipitation:

8.69in / 220.7mm

Thats what the weather station reads.

The next day friend and I plan to log. But Amanda stole my phone and the internet lies on its death bed, apparently in throes and woes. Communication is at an all-time low.

The sun shows its glorious underbits and the day takes hold. Of what I know not. Load the trailer, load the 4runner, beer, axes, chainsaw, safety, firearms, dog.

We arrive to the area and the main road is sloppy and sideways with a trailer is always fun. As we cross the cattleguard memories float though my mind. Highschool, Bozeman, 4 wheel drive and lots of fun and destruction. I look ahead at the road before me and I tighten my seatbelt, this is gonna be scary.

4 Low and second gear, engine pinned at 5000 rpms, mud spraying, trailer catching air. Avoiding the ruts like the plague. There is no return from there. Keep those tires spinning or the day is over.

Turns out that the Toyota is amazing in this terrain and we ended up doing those slide turns and big 4x4 spins in the grease. Cut some trees up and prepared them for the haul. Found the mother lode of dead and down. I want to go camping there, and I found another new pile of class 4 and 5 trails. Kick ass. Unfortunately bc it was so slick we came back empty handed, but thats ok, we jsut cut up about 15 cords of wood. Amazing.

The Electric Toaster....

Just a quick update on what I just saw.

So Im making a pot roast that wont really be done till next weekend. I care.... But Im missing some major ingredients so I gotta make a spin over to the local grocery.... After setting an ice cold beer in the firepalce to warm up for the stew, I stew about for a bit and decide the toaster van is the weapon of choice for my 1/4 mile mission. I fire the feisty bastard up and make my list. I have to drive kinda slow due to the almost flat front tires and even though theres not a lot of traffic I get to wave at almost everybody. Strange.

At Store. Park. Proceed inside and commence collecting the items of need. For flavor, for goodness. Pay, grudgingly. This place is expensive. Thinking about the wine Im gonna buy this afternoon. Yeah, all three cases of it. Exit with paper bag in hand.

I take the big left turn out the door and scope for my toaster. Not seen. To many parked cars. Before I see the van I see a coil of orange? I screw up my face. Apparently this is an extension cord. Apparently this extension cord is wound up and hanging on my mirror. How could I have left home and not seen a power cord on the door? I figure it out, as I coil the rest of it....

A couple of days ago the dog was chewing on said bright orange electrical extension cord so I piled it all up and tossed it over the wall towards the garage. My fleet of vehicles also park here. I know for fact I hit the van on the toss. I didnt know I hooked the hitch. Niether did I know that drove to the store with said 40 foot cord tailing my mission. Luckily it didnt wear all the way though, just most of the way. I bet theres about 12 peoples telling this story of what they just saw, crying and laughing.

Shoulda plugged it in.
