Flat Earth Society....

Being a geography major and loving it, I have to admit that to still argue that the earth is flat is pretty foul. Although I havent had the time to delve into their forums Im betting its something like the FSM although the difference is if people believe this we will have just lost about 3000 years in human evolution.

....

I lost it when I watched this....

Building the List for Best of 2008....

In the video dept I obviously like that alice in wonderland remix and this: paper cutout N.e.r.d. video.

Anybody else have any rad sighting of awesomeness?

Note: Yesterday was my last day guiding, phew. Now on to the new improved life and winter approaches. Amanda and I are considering the move to Salida, and Im starting to work on making this plotter start making some money for itself. Either way life is good and the cleansing shall commence immediately.

Inkless....

....I shall be soon. You may have heard that I got this new used probably stolen 42inch plotter, that printed twice, then died. Well, I figured since the ass@ I bought it from wont return my calls or emails that Id better do it myself. With a little reading here and there I found out I can retrofit it to run like a designjet 500 ( I have the 800). I did, and it does!!! So ever since then I have been printing and making river maps all day. I made a 5 foot wide print of Amanda hitting Souse Hole and slightly smaller version for the shop. Stoked am I.

Meanwhile Im prepping for the trip to MT in a couple weeks. Jamming to music and simply digging it. "In there!" as a fellow geologist would say.

Parking Lot Drowning....

My mom has partially experienced this. As did the guide of the boat that we rescued at Zoom Flume earlier in the season. Pulmonary Edema. Introduce water into the lungs (or rapid change in altitude) and the lungs start filling with fluid as a defense mechanism, and a bad one at that. Luckily with a big rescue of 7 guesties anda guide comes a couple cases of liquor and beer for saving his life. He was on oxygen for over a week and hacking up some of the nasty. Nasty.

Either way Salida is fun. Ill be back there on Weds.

Back from the Vacuum of Space....

Vacuums suck. Pure and simple. That vacuum right now is working on a river that is over an hour away. When you do the math I do about 3+ hours of driving a day, and that sucks, especially for living in a small unpopulated semi-rural location in New Mexico. I dont think I will ever make the mistake of working on a river that I cant just walk or ride my bike to. So I decided to just live at home for as long as possible. Heres how long I can be in the house before starvation begins:
