Ive been waiting for the weekend for soooooo long. I gots the new job at the surveying company, sucks. Consulting is obviously better. Meanwhile, back at the ranch.....
So with my weekend time I have gone shopping for a big pvc tube and some rather hard to find bits, unbeknownst to me. But it is clear that Phase III of the "why are you doing that?" Project has almost been completed. Allow me to elaborate via digital photographicos:
So here we have pulled out the entire Intake Silencer, the airometer thingy that measures the volume of air comming in, and the filter, and the hoses that connect them all. Man its dirty in here....
Heres our new parts from Lowes and the TrueValue and AutoZone. In retrospect all of these parts can be purchased from a single HD or Lowes. BTW, when I got into the engine I took a gander into the throttle body...and...omg....it looks like someone spilled something horrific in there and then a sandstorm happened: on the list of things to clean. As for the parts its really easy and simple and such.
It really does take a beer to calm down while cutting a tube (rolls) on the garage floor. So I had a couple and recommenced. Using a hose clamp as a guide you kinda measure visually, mark it and go. If you eff it up you and buzz over to HD for more parts on the bike. I had to cut again to get it more better.
Measurements are a go. Drilled a brass hose fitting in the pvc and recycled the old rubbery hose thing going to the intake, unfortunately it cracked, so I siliconed it and the brass fitting and am hoping for the best.
Viola, finished. It should be louder at WOT, and beefier sounding. Cruise control should actually work on hills. It should surpass all of my expectations for th $15 I spent. It should. The only reason it doesnt yet is bc Im waiting to start it till tomorrow when the silicone has set up better. Super 'Cited I am.
But couldnt leave ya without the grande vista of the evening....

Mod Phase II....
So now its time to install the Hamster Actuator. Next to the rock and tree is where this highly specific and coordinating capacitor for flux is most likely to be articulated. This is one method of adding horsepower as can be seen below:
To continue, we must do a little drilling and tapping (datass) to get the required results. This involves some high end physics and chemistry like the stuff I almost failed in college bc other people are dumb. We are seeking a keen ratio for the explosiveness in the octane of our custom racing fuel. I designed this last night, and it works pretty well, though it burns a little hot with extended pressure:
If you dont know how to inflate tires with flammables, well, then you should seek these techniques out. Next thing we have to improve is the overall feel and ride. Grab a drink and have a seat on the couch. Youre not going anywhere.
Safety is one of the most important items of interest whilst mechanic'in the top end of your ride. So remember to wear beer googles and hold the cutting torch between your legs.

Mod Phase I....
Here it is, the first of many cheap to free modifications going on the 4runner. And I finnally got most of the wiring done with the help of a strong brisk wind to ruffle my feathers. The inverter is bolted down and the CB powered and functionally floating under the passenger seat. I dont know where to put it...
The 4Runner earlier this summer:
Steps are gone. I hate those things... Though I need to reattach that skid plate:
Then I went ahead and did some airbox modifications and just got rid of some parts for a better breathing engine and a touch more low end torque:
Next is the straight tube of PVC I was talking about, going in here, on this GOLD (tan) 4Runner. JP doesnt know what hes talking about....schmegh....red....
Notice the beautifully cleaned and cared for engine compartment.

Options....
Having the new chainsaw is awesome, till I hit a rock. Then I sharpened it all cadywhompus. Time to start over.
As well today seems the best day to ACTUALLY wire up all those gizmos on the 4Runner. Got wire. Got switches. Got tape and connectors. Got Beer. Check.
So you may know the history of the Yota, but I got it from Brian, who sold it to me bc it really doesnt have the power he wanted. Now I have something that I can really take offroading and interstating, but it doesnt have the power I want either. The plan:
1. Snorkel. Since the 1994 3.slo V-6 engine doesnt have any aftermarket part available I had to poke around. A snorkel is by defintion the real cold air intake, looks cool, adds horses, and can go swimming. Check.
2. ISR mod. Removing the crazy cluttered air intake junk and fabricating a pvc tube straight from the cleaner to the throttle body. Improves perforamnce for a whopping $10. Check.
From stock above, to custom like this below:

Lets See....
....so a few things are happening as of late. I start the new surveying job (local) on Mon., and have been cutting down trees and doing motorcycle and 4runner maintenance all week. As well we started this puppy training schedule for the day and its already an audible pain in my ass.
The cool part is the new chain saw I bought. It slices and dices and Jason can use it whenever he wants. Speaking of, we went hot-springing yesterday up in the Valle Caldera by Los Alamos, and when in the Spence Hot Springs by Jemez Springs we saw this old dude take a 6 foot header to a rock in the pool. Blood, old guy, and weirdness. Looked bad. But he obviously made the hike out. Yikes.

Stage I....
So in my awesome time allotments, I have started mapping the Glorieta Mesa trails system. To Explain the lack of legend....
Red is highway
Green is dirt road
Black is railroad
Blue is powerlines
Yellow is Interstate and the flag is my house
So pretty much there is definitely a full tank of gas riding near the powerlines and it just continues north and south from there. You can cross the interstate to Pecos and keep going up there on the fire roads if you like...

Glorietta Dreamies....
Midday I sit here reading the newest of the Harry Potter Trilogy. Wow, I say to myself as I try to put the friggin book down. Its a sweet read. Now what though, I mean I cant just sit here and read all day? And I do have 2 sweet blue dominatrices in the garage. Shit, I think I saw some trails up on the Mesa....
....and IT was born....
Glorietta Mesa has almost as many trails as Pipestone, is a 10min ride away, and extremely variable. In an hour and a halfs of wandering I found the whoops of death, the sandy berms slide throttle joy, the babyhead rock disaster zone, someones trailer house, and a view of endless more trails. Consider yourself welcome, I wanna ride too!!

Lil Puppers....
The Land of Defense....
So I just got back from a 10 day surveying stint in West Tejas. I can say that I like that part of Texas considerably more, although. Altogether the nature is out to get ya. So is the alarm clock. Every cactus is bigger and pointier. the Sotals are sharper. The fire ants and wasps want to kick your ass. Tires beware.
I dont think Ive ever seen a Orange Rattlesnake before here. But the Mexicanos are indeed crazy, and they have some of these mystery skills. Skills like hitting a big venomous snake right behind the head with a stick will disorient them and you can then pick em up and such. This is why this particular 4 footer became orange. As a warning to other surveyors, "big snake here".
There was and is always some kind of weird intrafamilial feuding. Like the kid whos step father is 6 years older than himself. The cheating and drinking. I get to watch while drinking my beer on the tailgate. I soon retire to my extremely humble abode only to awake the next morning face down fully clothed and drooling just like it ended the night before. Still exhausted and extremely thirsty.
meandering through the prickly pear I learned lots. those spines are super long and stick into your pants. About ten time per day I would stop and itch my leg to find that there are about ten of these spines in my shin. You cant feel them go in but you sure as hell can feel them come out. Especially if you dont break or cut them first bc theyre vacuumed in.
Theres also some big Elk and Deer down there, but theyre not orange.
